Old Mission Santa Barbara

Project: Old Mission Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara, California

This project consisted of the construction of a fully ADA-compliant access ramp at the Mission’s primary entrance, replacing the previous indirect rear-entry route with a dignified front-door solution. The scope required careful demolition and modification of the existing stair assembly, structural adjustments to accommodate compliant slopes and landings, and precise integration with the historic façade. Special attention was given to material selection, finish matching, and detailing to ensure the new work complemented the original architecture while meeting current federal and local accessibility codes. All construction activities were phased to maintain safe public access and minimize disruption to daily
operations. The result is a durable, code-compliant improvement that enhances functionality while preserving the Mission’s historic character.
