Description:
The Sprague Butterfly Pavilion was part of Phase 1 of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s Master Plan. This permanent pavilion replaced the temporary butterfly garden exhibit. During Phase 1, we improved the accessibility around campus, including the path of travel from accessible parking spaces to the main entrance of the Museum. As part of Phase 1, a new trash enclosure was relocated, mechanical equipment replacement at Bird Hall, campus-wide landscape improvements, permeable walking surfaces, boardwalks, new fencing, and enhanced existing outdoor activity. The existing backyard creek water feature was reconstructed, outdoor lighting, pathways, signage, MacVeagh Cottage was renovated and a full code analysis compliance items for the change in use. A unisex restroom was renovated at Fleischmann Auditorium, to provide support for Phase 1. Re-roofing at portions of the original courtyard building, Mammal Hall and Bird Hall. Along with providing accessible transaction counters for the Admissions Office and the Gift Shop.
