Starbucks

Project: Starbucks
Santa Barbara, California
Client: Hotel California
Architect: Sherry & Associates Architects

This $625,000 project transformed a previously vacant tenant space into a 1,137-square-foot-foot Starbucks “new concept” location — the first of its kind nationwide, blending Starbucks’ signature style with local Santa Barbara character. The compact footprint required careful planning and close collaboration between the general contractor, subcontractors, the owner, and the Starbucks design team to ensure operational efficiency, ADA compliance, and health and safety standards. The scope included custom finishes, new ceilings, tile flooring, millwork, and the installation of a storefront entrance, restroom, plumbing, ductwork, and electrical systems—all designed to maximize space and meet operational needs. Special attention was given to the ceiling layout, with access panels, lighting, and linear diOusers strategically coordinated for both functionality and visual appeal.
