Frank
Schipper
"I
try to make the most of each day by challenging myself to be the
best I can."
Quality Without Compromise is more than a motto to Frank Schipper. It is the way he runs his own life, as well as his company. With more than 45 years of construction experience, he knows that success comes from the respect and reputation earned through integrity, innovation, good communication skills and quality of workmanship.
Since founding Frank Schipper Construction Co. in 1982, "Skip" has built both public and private projects in every medium from concrete to steel to wood. The company has won numerous awards including "Builder's Awards" for New Commercial/Industrial Construction and Commercial/Industrial Remodel from the Santa Barbara Contractors Association and, in 1998, was chosen as Santa Barbara Builder of the Year. Skip is extremely proud of having won the Santa Barbara Contractor’s Association Member’s Choice Award in 2003 & 2004 which was awarded based on nominations from both subcontractors and suppliers in the tri-counties area who chose Frank Schipper Construction Co. as their favorite General Contractor to work with. Some reasons given were its professional and knowledgeable staff, experience, fast pay, solution oriented attitude, and for overall just being a fantastic company.
Through his strong devotion to the construction industry over the years, Frank has progressed through the ranks of the Associated General Contractors of California, and is a past President of this prestigious organization. He also teaches a Construction Supervisor Training Program (STP) and is an active member of both the Santa Barbara and Ventura County Contractors Associations.
Because of his strong interest in workforce development, Skip has been instrumental in establishing, through the AGC of California, a 501(c)3 non-profit California Construction Education and Research Foundation of which he is now the chair. He is also the treasurer of TRADART, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide better vocational training for high school students as well as those already in the construction industry. In addition, Skip annually gives out the Marvin Melvin Construction Award, in honor of a metal shop teacher that was influential in his life, to the top vocational arts teacher in Santa Barbara County.
Beyond work, Skip is committed to involvement in the community and education. His civic contributions include time and materials for the construction of THE VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALK in Elings Park, and KID'S WORLD playground in Alameda Park. Skip serves on the Board of the Lobero Theater Foundation, the American Charter High School, the Santa Barbara Camber of Commerce, Partners in Education, and is an appointee to California Career Technical Education Standards and Frame Work Advisory Group for Jack O'Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He also serves as a member of Fighting Back, the anti-drug/alcohol task force, is a Life Member of the American Mensa Society, and is a past Board Member of the Business and Industry Associates for the Santa Barbara City College, the Santa Barbara Suburban Kiwanis, and the West Coast Ballet.
An
enthusiastic skier, and avid though humble golfer, Skip is proud
to list both the Glen
Annie Clubhouse and Alisal
River Course Clubhouse as completed projects.
